Kathmandu, June 15
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on behalf of the government of Nepal and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on behalf of the Korean government signed the record of discussion on Monday for the project ‘Establishment of Polytechnic Institute for Construction Workforce Development in Province 2, Nepal.
As per the deal between the two sides, KOICA will support the government construct a polytechnic institute in Bardibas of Mahottari to operate under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training. USD 8.6 million will be spent on the project.
Education Secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya and KOICA Country Director Sunghoon Ko signed the record virtually on Monday.
“The main objective of the project is to produce competent workforces ready to meet the domestic and global needs of the 21st century by aligning with the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) policy and the 15th national plan,” KOICA informs in a statement, “The project also aims to contribute to the economic growth of Nepal through the development of the skilled workforce to meet the need of construction industry and increasing their employability.”
