Two children of the same family died in a snakebite incident in the Khadak municipality of the Saptari district of southeastern Nepal on Tuesday night.
The victims are Sunita Mandal (14) and her brother Krishna (9), residents of Siswabenhi, Khadak-2 of the district, according to police.
After being bitten by the snake, they were taken to the Ram Prasad Uma Prasad Memorial Hospital in Siraha of Lahan. Whereas the girl died there during treatment, the boy breathed his last at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Memorial Hospital in Rajbiraj after being referred to there, informs DSP Madhav Prasad Kaphle, the District Police Office spokesperson.
Deaths after snakebite incidents are reported in various districts in the southern plains of Nepal almost every summer season.
