Kathmandu, March 7
A 60-year-old woman in Dadhikot, Suryabinayak-4 of the Bhaktapur district in the Kathmandu valley has survived an acid attack on Sunday evening.
SP Shiva Kumar Shrestha, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range in Bhaktapur, says police have arrested the survivor Puja Gubhaju’s husband Shyam for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Although it has been said that he attacked the wife with acid, the police are yet to examine what chemical was used.
The woman with burn injuries has been sent to the Kirtipur Hospital for treatment.
Further investigation is underway.
Nepal criminalised acid attacks with the introduction of a separate act in 2020 with several cases being reported frequently.
