Rupandehi, April 14
A woman has been found dead in mysterious circumstances in Tilottama of the Rupandehi district in Lumbini.
The 29-year-old Amrita Tandan has been found dead inside her house in Tilottama municipality-2 of the district on Wednesday night, inform the police.
It has been learned that the woman was living with her parents nearby, but her husband Prem had telephoned her on Wednesday evening to come home. She died within one hour of her arrival at home, hence the incident is suspicious, according to the deceased’s parental family.
The family claims her husband’s family killed her but pretended it was a suicide case.
“My daughter was with us until 8:30 pm, but the son-in-law telephoned her thrice, urging her to come home,” the deceased’s mother Sabitra Khatri says, “At 9:30, she texted her brother requesting to save her, and by 10, she was dead.”
The mother claims the Tandan family had been misbehaving with her daughter for a long time.
The deceased was also taken to the Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal, Rupandehi, at around 10 at night, but the doctors said she was already dead.
Amrita and Prem had married seven years ago after a relationship. They also have a five-year-old son.
Meanwhile, some locals have staged a demonstration at the deceased’s house demanding a fair investigation into the case.
DSP Nawa Ratna Paudel of the Rupandehi District Police Office says the law enforcers have arrested the deceased’s husband and parents-in-law for further investigation and action.
