Vivo Y15C in Nepal: Interesting features and good battery backup at an affordable price

Vivo Y15C has been officially released in Nepal.

After a long duration, Vivo launched a new product in Nepal. Vivo launched Y55 a few months ago and has not been active since. Since the import of smartphones costing over US dollar 300 has been temporarily banned by the government, every smartphone company is aggressively launching budget smartphones in the market. With the new launch, Vivo has got an opportunity to compete against the likes of Samsung and Xiaomi as there are comparatively fewer models to compete against in this price category.

The new Vivo Y15C offers what a basic smartphone would. The phone has a standard display with a slim design. The cameras on the phone are also basic and should do a decent job. The battery backup on the phone is admirable and the phone has some interesting features for the user, which will be discussed in detail below.

Design and display

Vivo Y15C has a minimalistic design. The phone has a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame build. The textured back panel of the phone provides an elegant finish, which is good to look at. It also includes a square-shaped camera panel that houses two cameras and an LED flash. Similarly, Vivo branding is done elegantly on the bottom left corner. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometrics, which also works as the power button.

The phone weighs only 179 grams and is 8.28 mm in thickness. It is available in mystic blue and wave green colour options.

On the front is a 6.51-inch IPS LCD display, which offers a resolution of 720*1,600 pixels and 270 PPI density. The display also offers a 60Hz refresh rate for better touch interaction. To prevent eye strain, the display of this phone is equipped with eye protection mode, which filters out the harmful blue light and is gentle on the eyes.

Cameras

Vivo Y15C has a dual camera setup on the back. The 13MP main camera sensor has an aperture of f/2.2 and is housed together with a 2MP macro sensor. On the front is an 8Mp selfie shooter. The camera modes on the phone include panorama, face beauty, photo, bokeh, video, live photo, time-lapse, pro and documents.

The cameras on the phone can record videos at 1080p resolution.

Performance and storage

Vivo Y15C runs on Functouch OS 12 based on Android 12. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio P35 (12nm) chipset and the graphics are handled by PowerVR GE8320. The phone also has a Multi-Turbo 3.0 feature that focuses on optimising core scenes to reduce the stuttering and lags during gaming.

At the moment, the phone is only available in the 3GB RAM option coupled with 32GB of internal storage. The user has the option to expand the memory with a microSD card and there is a dedicated slot for the card on the phone.

Battery life, connectivity and others

Vivo Y15C has a 5,000mAh non-removable li-po battery backup. The battery on the phone is enough to provide power for up to 19 hours of online HD movie streaming and up to eight hours of gaming. The phone does not support a fast charging feature and only supports 10W charging, which is included inside the box. The reverse charging feature allows Vivo Y15C to work as a power bank and charge other devices.

The phone supports dual sims with 4G network connectivity. It also supports dual-band wifi, GPS, OTG and FM radio. The Bluetooth 5.0 on the phone can be used for wireless pairing with other devices while the micro USB 2.0 can be used for charging and wired pairing.

The price of the Vivo Y15C is Rs 17,999 for the 3/32GB variant.
