Vivo has launched its premium budget smartphone, the Vivo Y36 in Nepal. The smartphone features a beautiful design, dual rear camera setup and Snapdragon 680 chipset. It is Vivo’s latest addition to the Nepali market after the launch of Vivo V27 and Vivo V27e. Vivo is trying to get back its market with the launch of new phones in the budget and mid-range category.

Design and Display
The Vivo Y36 has an overall nice design. The phone comes in two colours – Meteor Black and Vibrant Gold. The black colour on the back has a nice matte glossy finish whereas the gold colour has a nice shiny texture-like finish.
There is a dual-setup camera in the back which is kept in a curved rectangular box which Vivo calls a fantasy frame. It has a shiny finish with two camera rings. It has a flat plastic back panel accompanied by a flat plastic frame giving a sort of boxy feel and look.
On the front, it has a hole-punch cutout on the top which house the selfie camera. The bezels on the sides are quite thin whereas the top and the chin have slightly bigger bezels.
It has a 6.64-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2388 pixels, resulting in a density of approximately 395 pixels per inch. It has a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 650 nits. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 85.4%.
Performance and Storage
The Vivo Y36 is equipped with a Snapdragon 680 chipset and an octa-core CPU consisting of four Kryo 265 Gold cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Kryo 265 Silver cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. It also features a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for handling graphics performance and runs on Funtouch OS 13, based on Android 13.
It is available in one RAM option of 8 GB paired with one storage option of 128 GB. It also has a virtual memory feature allowing you to add 8 GB more RAM making a total of 16GB. You can also increase the storage using an external Micro SD card.
Camera
The Vivo Y36 boasts a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50 MP wide lens with an f/1.8 aperture and PDAF for quick and accurate focusing. It is accompanied by a 2 MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The camera setup also includes an LED flash to assist in low-light conditions. The rear camera can record videos in 1080p at 30fps.
For selfies, it has a 16 MP front-facing camera with an f/2.5 aperture. It supports 1080p video recording at 30fps.
Battery and Others
The Vivo Y36 is equipped with a 5000 mAh (typical) battery and supports 44W wired charging which can charge up to 30% in about 15 minutes.
In terms of connectivity, it has dual SIM functionality, enabling users to use two SIM cards simultaneously. The device supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity for pairing with compatible devices.
The Y36 incorporates a range of sensors, including a fingerprint sensor for secure and convenient unlocking. Other sensors include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, an e-compass and a gyroscope sensor. It has an IP54 rating, making it dust and water-resistant to a certain extent.
The phone comes in two colour options: Meteor Black and Vibrant Gold.
