Vivo V40 Lite: Sleek and simple design at a mid-range price

Vivo has launched the Vivo V40 Lite in Nepal. The V40 Lite is part of the V40 family, which also includes the recently launched Vivo V40 5G in Nepal. Other members of the V40 family include the V40 Pro, V40e, and the V40 SE. The V40 Lite is the successor to the Vivo V30 Lite, which received a good response for its design and performance in the price range.

The Vivo V40 Lite has a few changes from its V30 Lite counterpart, including a new design, display features, rear camera, front camera, and charging speeds. The V40 Lite will compete against other mid-range smartphones in the market around the same price range, such as the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G, Redmi Note 13 Pro, CMF Phone 1, Infinix Note 40 Pro 4G and Samsung Galaxy A25 5G.

Design and Display

The design of the Vivo V40 Lite 5G is sleek and very simple with a flat back and the pill-shaped camera module. The back is made up of plastic with two colour options; Titanium Silver and Emerald Green. The Titanium Silver has a matte finish giving a metal finish look whereas the Emerald Green has a mixed wavy pattern of dark green and light green for a more premium look. The camera module has two with a circular ring with metal rings around it. Just below the camera module is an AI AURA light which has over 8 times more light-emitting area.

On the front, the Vivo V40 Lite’s display has a central hole-punch cutout which houses the selfie camera. The bezels are thin on the sides whereas the top and bottom are slightly thicker. It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a high resolution of 2400 × 1080 and can adjust between 60 Hz and 120 Hz refresh rates, allowing smooth visuals and animations. It can reach a local peak brightness of 1800 nits, making the screen visible even under bright light. The display supports the P3 colour gamut with 107% colour saturation. It has a pixel density of 394 PPI and E4 light-emitting material.

Performance and Storage

The Vivo V40 Lite features the Snapdragon 685 chipset, built on a 6nm process for efficient performance. It has an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A73 cores at 2.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.9 GHz for lighter and everyday functions. The graphics are managed by the Adreno 610 GPU, providing smooth visuals for apps and games.

The Vivo V40 Lite runs on FunTouch OS 14, based on Android 14. It is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage alongside 1TB of external storage using the MicroSD card slot.

Camera

The Vivo V40 Lite’s rear camera setup includes a 50 MP main camera with a bright f/1.8 aperture for detailed photos in low light. The main camera is paired with a 2 MP depth sensor at f/2.4 for enhancing the portrait shots for a background blur. The rear cameras are aided by the Aura Light flash, which can change its tone to warmth and white for low-light scenes without noise. Additionally, it offers a variety of modes, including Night, Portrait, Panorama, Slo-mo, and Pro mode and 50 MP mode for detailed shots. For video, the rear camera can record in 1080p at 30fps.

The front camera on the Vivo V40 Lite has a 32 MP sensor with an f/2.45 aperture for selfies and video calls. It includes modes like Night, Portrait and Live Photo. As for video recording, it records 1080p at 30fps.

Battery and Others

The Vivo V40 Lite is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery giving a long-lasting power to get through the day. It supports 80W wired charging which can charge the smartphone from 0 to 80% in about 30 minutes.

In terms of connectivity, the Vivo V40 Lite supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with dual-band capabilities for fast internet connections and Bluetooth 5.0 for seamless pairing with other devices. The smartphone also includes LTE network support and offers dual SIM compatibility, with one slot optionally available for microSD expansion. As for audio, the stereo speakers deliver an immersive sound experience. To further elevate the experience, sensors like an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor, gyroscope and an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for convenient and secure unlocking.

The Vivo V40 Lite is available in two colour options; Titanium Silver and Emerald Green.
