Kathmandu, August 12
Rape-surviving single mother Niharika Rajput has launched another round of struggle to demand justice for her.
In an effort to draw the attention of the authorities, Rajput tried to immolate herself in front of the President’s Office this afternoon. But, as soon as she poured petrol on her body, police stopped her.
Earlier this week, the law enforcers had detained her in front of the Supreme Court on the charge of demonstrating in a restricted area.
In June, Rajput staged a fast-unto-death in Kathmandu before she was asked to end it by the authorities, assuring to meet her demand. She is protesting now after two months claiming no progress has been made.
