Kathmandu, August 24
Seven people died in a bus accident near Churiyamai temple of Jitpur Simara sub-metropolitan city.
According to police, the bus (Madhesh Province-03-001 Kha 7994) en route to Janakpur from Kathmandu veered off the road and fell into the river in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Six of the seven deceased are Indian nationals.
Police said 19 others have been injured in the accident and are being treated at various health facilities in Hetauda.
The bus was carrying a total of 26 passengers, most of them from India. Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, it appears that the accident was due to excessive speed, police said.
