Kathmandu, December 14

The Patan High Court has ordered the release of former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand on a bail of Rs 3 million.

The High Court overturned the decision of the Kathmandu District Court, which had ordered the Khand be kept in custody, and instead directed his release on bail, set at Rs 3 million.

The bench led by Judge Krishna Ram Koirala has endorsed the earlier stance put forth by Judge Janak Pandey, stating that Khand should be granted bail at Rs 3 million.

The opinion of the judges Janak Pandey and Prakash Kharel had differed on whether to keep Khand in custody or release him on bail.

His case file was presented to Koirala who has released him at a bail of Rs 3 million.

On December 1, the Patan High Court released 10 of the 20 arrested in connection to the fake Bhutanese refugee case.
