Jhapa, December 21
Three people have died after being attacked by a wild elephant in Jhapa in the past month.
Two of the deceased were employees, and one was a civilian, according to the Division Forest Office in Jhapa.
The victims, two from Haldibari Rural Municipality and one from Damak Municipality lost their lives to wild elephants emerging from the Jalthal forest.
According to the Office, 58-year-old Patal Rajwanshi, an office assistant of Ward No. 2, was killed by a wild elephant on Wednesday morning. He was trampled to death by an elephant in Parokhapi of the same ward during a morning walk.
Likewise, Dhan Bahadur, the forest guard of Rankali Community Forest located in Haldibari Rural Municipality-3, was killed in an attack by elephants on December 1. Before this, Padmalal Tamang of Beldangi Camp located in Damak Municipality-2 died in an elephant attack on November 22.
