Kathmandu, December 22
A man has been arrested on charges of sexually exploiting girls and engaging them in prostitution and other sexual activities.
Suman Tamang, 24, a resident of Tadi Rural Municipality-6 in Nuwakot and residing in Tokha Municipality-9, has been arrested by the police.
Following information about girls being exploited for prostitution and sexual activities, a team from the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau in Babar Mahal conducted an operation in the area. The police successfully rescued four girls and arrested Tamang.
According to the police, one of the survivors had been confined in a hotel for five months and subjected to forced sexual intercourse.
To further investigate the case of human trafficking and smuggling, the police have obtained a seven-day extension from the District Court in Kathmandu.
