Police arrested individuals gathered in Maitighar to celebrate ‘Dhoti Diwas’ on January 1.
This morning, members of the Madhesi community assembled in Maitighar donning white dhotis, displaying a banner reading ‘Dhoti Diwas’.
The police attempted to disperse them as they had assembled in a restricted area, leading to a confrontation.
The government has imposed a ban on activities like demonstrations, gatherings, processions, etc., in Maitighar.
Janamat Party leader and lawmaker CK Raut has also been arrested by the police.
