Armed Police officer dies during disaster rescue drill in Bajhang

Dhangadhi, June 10

An armed police officer lost his life after fainting during a disaster rescue drill in Bajhang. The deceased is identified as 29-year-old Narendra Singh Dhami from Kedasu Rural Municipality-7.

Dhami fainted on Monday morning during a model rescue drill near the Seti River, close to the Birbhadrajung Battalion of the Nepali Army in Jayaprithvi Bahadur Municipality. Although he was rushed to the district hospital for treatment, doctors declared him dead and informed Bharat Shah, the DSP in Bajhang.

Dhami was stationed at the Non-Resident Battalion of the Armed Police Force in Bajhang. The drill, jointly conducted by the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army, was focused on rescuing civilians trapped in floods during natural disasters.

According to Kumar Nuaupane, the spokesperson for the Armed Police Force, Dhami was an experienced rescuer in disaster management. Nuaupane expressed surprise and concern over the incident, emphasising the unexpected nature of the tragedy involving such an experienced individual.
