The Kapilvastu district court has issued an arrest warrant against a Nepali Congress member of parliament after a rival political leader filed a complaint that the NC leader issued a death threat against him.
MP Abishek Pratap Shah of Kapilvastu-3 allegedly issued a threat against RPP central committee member Shaym Kumar Mishra, who filed a police complaint against Shah, a member of the lower house of the federal parliament.
“The court has issued an arrest warrant, but according to the information we have, he is in India,” said district police spokesperson DSP Sunil Malla. “We will now investigate the case,” he added. Mishra claims that Shah thrashed him in his guest room on December 21 after forcing him to take consume sedative drugs. During the incident, MP Shah allegedly pointed a gun at Mishra threatening to kill him. He says that Shah forced the barrel of his gun into his mouth and his teeth hurt following the incident.
Mishra, an RPP candidate for the post of mayor of Krishannagar, has now returned home after receiving treatment in Butwal.
