Biratnagar, January 25
Cadres of the Biplav-led CPN-Maoist tried to tar the face of Devenra Khanal, district education officer of Morang, at his office on Wednesday afternoon.
A team under Navaraj Nepal, Morang district chief of the party-affiliated student wing, ANNISU-R, entered Morang District Education Office in Biratnagar in the afternoon. On the pretext of submitting some files, they tried to paint Khanal’s face black.
An eyewitness said DEO Khanal pushed away the cadres while they were trying to tar his face. Later, the cadres took photos of Khanal with bits of soot around his eyes and fled, a source said. Nepal said they took action against Khanal for his involvement in corruption.
