Kathmandu, March 17
At least eight people have been injured, one of them critically, in a bizarre road accident on the outskirts of Kathmandu on Friday afternoon.
According to police, it all started when a truck driver lost control of his vehicle after its brakes failed. The truck hit four other vehicles before it could be stopped. Thankot Police DSP Krishna Pangeni informed that the truck (Na 3 Kha 9773) hit a scooter, a motorcycle, a truck and a cab after hitting an electricity pole on the road.
Everyone on the four vehicles has been injured and rushed to the hospital. The cab driver, whose identity has not been established, is in a critical condition. The injured are receiving treatment at Vayodha and Om Samak hospitals, police said.
The driver who was behind the wheel of the truck whose brakes failed is on the run.
