Kathmandu, June 7
A cabinet meeting to be held tonight is likely to take a concrete decision about relaxing lockdown restrictions in the districts where the number of Covid-19 cases is low.
Earlier, the high-level committee on coronavirus control had prepared a proposal to relax the restrictions gradually from today. However, as a proposal of the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre contradicted the high-level committee’s plan, it has not been finalised and implemented yet.
Now, officials are combining the two proposals and preparing a final one, which will be tabled in the cabinet meeting on Sunday evening seeking endorsement.
Earlier last week, the cabinet had assigned the high-level committee to submit a proposal to loosen lockdown restrictions.
Of late, the government is under pressure to gradually lift restrictive measures as they have crippled the country’s economy and normal life.
