
Kathmandu, May 6
The Central Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday stated the annual sales of Nepal amounted to Rs 2.9 trillion in the year 2018.
In its report from the National Economic Census 2018, the bureau has published data about sales, profit and losses of the county. The census was the first of its kind with a focus on the industries and their stakeholders. It was conducted with technical assistance from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
According to the report, manufacturing accounted for 23.1 per cent of the country’s total sales, equal to Rs 674 billion, followed by wholesale and retail trade with 20.6 per cent (equal to Rs 604 billion).
The report states that Kathmandu holds the largest accounts of sales with 28.5 per cent, equal to Rs 832 billion, followed by Lalitpur and Morang.
