Kathmandu, April 27
The CIAA has barred journalist and Sajha Yatayat chief Kanak Mani Dixit, who was arrested over corruption charges on Friday, from meeting his legal counsel.
Lawyers Tikaram Bhattrai and Ramesh Badal were not allowed to meet their client Dixit, who is receiving treatment in Bir Hospital’s ICU, on Wednesday.
The lawyers said that when they reached the hospital at around 11.55 am, police personnel at the hospital did not allow them to meet Dixit.
“Even the court has ordered that he be allowed to meet his lawyers and family members,” advocate Bhattarai told Onlinekhabar. “But they said they were under orders not to allow us in.”
Bhattarai said that it is the fundamental right of every detainee to meet his legal counsel.
