Kathmandu, February 15
Coca-Cola has claimed it supported 63,200 frontline workers in Nepal during the Covid-19 pandemic in partnership with the Nepal Red Cross Society and CREASION.
Around 60,000 frontline workers including health professionals, ambulance drivers, blood transfusion service providers, volunteers mobilised in the quarantine sites and help desks were provided with safety gear for protection in partnership with the Nepal Red Cross Society, the company says.
Additionally, 3,200 waste workers were supported by providing relief materials and protective gear.
Dan Bikram Thapa, an ambulance driver from Jhapa, says “Though we were scared of contracting the virus, we knew this was our duty to do our part to fight the battle against the virus. Receiving support from organisations like the NRCS and Coca-Cola who have provided safety items to ensure our protection was indeed a boost in moral support as we fight the pandemic together.”
Likewise, Mintu Kumar Poddar, a waste worker from Kathmandu, shares, “Health risks along with the stigma attached to my profession as a waste worker have worsened during the pandemic. However, I realise that the importance of my work for the community’s safety has increased more than ever so I continue relentlessly to provide my service.”
To lend a helping hand during such testing times, Coca-Cola in Nepal had pledged a support of Rs 80 million towards providing support to frontline workers on the battle the pandemic.
