While Madheshi Morcha (the United Democratic Madheshi Front) is pressing the Prachanda-led government for amendments in the new Constitution to address Tarai’s demands, the main opposition CPN-UML is preparing to launch a campaign in the Tarai.
This, after the UML standing committee concluded after broad discussions that the southern plains need a package for economic development and not Constitution amendments.

Demands of people of Madhesh and Madheshi Morcha are two different things, Kiran Gurung, a UML standing committee member, said, adding: We will visit Madhesh to inform local people about programmes that our government floated for their betterment.
Satya Narayan Mandal, a UML coordinator, said they will press the current government from the grassroots for the implementation of programmes that then KP Oli government floated for development of Tarai-Madhesh by allocating budget.
