Kathmandu, December 30
An unidentified gang attacked Santosh Budhathoki, a central member of the CPN-UML-aligned Youth Association, at Kohalpur, Banke district, on Thursday night. Seriously injured in the attack, Budhathoki was rushed to Lucknow of India for treatment, the association said. Ashok Chaulagain, a member of the association’s Central Secretariat, told Onlinekhabar Budhathoki has sustained serious injuries in his neck.

He pointed that they had to rush Budhathoki to Lucknow as they could not get a copter to airlift him to Kathmandu.
At around 9 pm, a gang attacked Budhathoki with khukuri at Kohalpur Bazaar with the intent to murder him, the association said, demanding that the government conduct a search for the attackers without delay and take action against them.
The motives behind the attack are unclear. The association said attacks on its leaders were increasing because the UML movement against the government-sponsored Constitution Amendment Bill had terrified (certain quarters).
Some days ago, a gang had shot and killed the association’s Rupandehi district chief Durga Tiwari in Khairahani Bazaar, Rupandehi district.
