Kathmandu, June 5
Comedian couple Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus’ and Kunjana Ghimire ‘Suntali’ have announced to launch the Model Nepal project, which they said would model the diversity of Nepali population.
Amidst a special function organised in the Capital today, the artists-turned-activists said they would collect and spend around Rs 5 billion in the project.
The couple have already constructed three model earthquake-resistant settlements in Kavre, Sindhupalchok and Mahottari districts in the wake of the devastating earthquake in 2015.
The duo have hoped that the model village to be constructed would house monuments and structures reflecting diverse ethnic and religious population of Nepal as well as differences in geographic terrains.
It would be established as a national museum and attract domestic as well as international tourists, they shared.
They have said a land of 500 to 1,000 ropanis is required for the project.
The couple hoped that the government as well as non-government actors would extend support to their ambitious project.
