Biratnagar, December 15
Gopal Kirati, a leader from the ruling CPN-Maoist Centre, said he and other leaders and cadres from Province 1 will boycott local-level elections if the government conducts them without making structural changes in the poll process.
Kirati warned Prime Minister Prachanda, who is also from the Centre, not to be part of a conspiracy, at a time when top leaders of three major political parties are close to an agreement on conducting local-level polls on old format.
Congress, CPN-UML, RPP and Madhesh-centric parties are trying to conduct civic polls as per the format of monarchical times. We will not accept such polls, no matter what.

He claimed that leaders and cadres from Province 1 will boycott elections if they are conducted as per old format. He said efforts to conduct local elections as per the old format are part of a plot against the republican system, established through people’s sacrifices and hard work. We cannot accept this plan, Kirati added.
Kirati warned Prachanda not t play at the hands of what he called reactionaries. He said they were ready for an uprising if (Prachanda) does not listen to the people and the party cadres.
