Kathmandu, August 22
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, will leave for Pakistan on Wednesday to take part in a meeting of finance ministers from SAARC member-states.
The meeting is taking place on Thursday and Friday. Mahara’s personal secretariat said the senior minister will leave for Pakistan on Wednesday.
In the capacity of Prime Minister Prachanda’s special emissary, DPM Mahara had recently visited China and held talks with Chinese political leadership.
It’s unclear whether India’s Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, will attend the meeting or not. Some Indian media channels had claimed that Jaitley will not attend the meeting.
But Hindustan Times, citing Vikas Swarup, spokesperson for India’s External Affairs Ministry, said India is yet to decide on whether or not to attend the meeting.
