Kathmandu, June 19
An elephant killed a woman in Tikapur of the Kailali district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Tanka Sodari, 50, of Tikapur municipality-1.
Police said two elephants attacked Sodari when she was returning home from Sanakatti Ghat in the Karnali river. She was near the banks of the river to collect stones when two elephants came out of the jungle, chased her and killed her, says DSP Hom Bahadur Shahi.
Animal attacks have increased in the area in recent times. According to officials, wild animals kill around a dozen people every year.
