Kathmandu, May 28
The government on Sunday formed a five-member committee to investigate into the crash of a Goma Air plane in Lukla of the Everest region on Saturday afternoon.
The pilot of the aircraft, Paras Rai, had died on the spot whereas the co-pilot Shrijan Manandhar also succumbed to the injuries later.
Former Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Triratna Manandhar will lead the committee comprising Colonel Ashish Narsingha Rana, Tara Air Senior Captain Bodh Raj Niraula, Manang Air’s Digambar Rajbhandari and Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation’s Joint Secretary Suresh Acharya, the Ministry informed today.
The committee has been mandated to investigate causes of the accident and submit a report to the government along with recommendations so as to prevent such accidents in the future.
Meanwhile, the government condoled the death of two crew members and wished for speedy recovery of flight attendant Pragya Maharjan who is undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
