Bhairahawa’s Gautam Buddha International Airport served nearly 5,000 international passengers between November 3 and December 3, according to airport officials.
Airport General Manager Pratap Babu Tiwari reported that 4,771 passengers utilised the airport during this period. Of these, 2,238 passengers departed for international destinations, while 2,533 arrived in Bhairahawa. Additionally, 5,467 passengers used the airport as a transit point, primarily for connecting flights to Kathmandu.
The airport recorded a total of 156 flights, comprising 78 departures and 78 arrivals.
Jazeera Airways emerged as the top carrier, transporting 3,034 passengers, including 1,792 outbound and 1,242 inbound passengers. Flydubai ranked second, flying 1,132 passengers to Bhairahawa and 19 from the airport.
Other airlines operating at the airport during the month included Thai AirAsia (447 passengers), Qatar Airways (93 passengers), Nepal Airlines (39 passengers), and chartered flights (26 passengers).
The growing transit traffic highlights the airport’s role in connecting travelers to Kathmandu, boosting its importance as a regional hub.
