Kathmandu, December 15

Kathmandu Metropolitan City authorities have pulled down shanties built illegally at New Buspark area in Gongabu.

A week ago, KMC had issued a notice telling the concerned sides to remove the illegal structures. The city authorities razed these structures as owners of those shanties did not bother to remove them. On Thursday morning, a KMC team demolished 51 shanties at the area.

KMC has given land within New Buspark to Lhotse Cooperatives. DSP Raju Nath Pandey said authorities pulled down the temporary and illegal structures as they had been causing difficulties in free movement of people, including passengers.

KMC said it will demolish more shanties in the second phase.
