Design and Display
The design of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has been changed a lot from the Google Pixel Fold. The display is longer and thinner instead of wide in the Pixel Fold. The outer screen is similar in size to the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro. The outer screen has curved edges with equal-sized bezels.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has an enhanced aluminium alloy steel hinge, making it 1.5mm thinner and 26 grams lighter than the Pixel Fold. The fluid-friction mechanism allows it to open smoothly and lie completely flat with a satisfying snap. This updated hinge design has also reduced the visible crease when the phone is unfolded with improved durability.
The rear of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a new design with the squared-off camera module with two pill-shaped cutouts inside the module. The rear redesign has got a mixed opinion. The rear is glass and has Corning Gorilla Victus 2 protection. The matte finish and the flat back give a premium look.
The inner main display has the largest display in a foldable smartphone. The display has a better viewing experience with the thin and equal bezels instead of the bulky and unequal bezels on the Pixel Fold. The under-display selfie camera on the Pixel Fold has been changed to a physical selfie camera with a hole-punch cutout on the top right corner.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s outer screen has a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, with a resolution of 2424 x 1080 at 422 PPI. It supports a refresh rate between 60 and 120 Hz. The display reaches up to 2,700 nits of peak brightness and supports HDR with a contrast ratio of over 2,000,000:1 giving vibrant colours with full 24-bit depth.
The internal folding screen is an 8-inch Super Actua Flex screen with a 2152 x 2076 OLED resolution at 373 PPI. It also offers a smooth refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and has a peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits. Like the cover display, it supports HDR with a high contrast ratio and full 24-bit colour depth.
Performance and Storage
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is powered by the Google Tensor G4 chipset, built on a 4 nm process which it shares with its Pixel 9 series. It features an octa-core CPU, combining a high-performance 3.1 GHz Cortex-X4 core, three 2.6 GHz Cortex-A720 cores, and four 1.92 GHz Cortex-A520 cores for efficient multitasking. The Mali MC7 GPU handles graphics for smooth performance.
The 9 Pro Fold runs on the latest Android 14 and has 7 years of OS and security updates. For memory, it comes with 16 GB of RAM and offers storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB.

It is packed with shooting modes such as Night Sight for low-light photography, Astrophotography for capturing the night sky, Portrait Mode for professional-quality portraits and other features like Face Unblur, Long Exposure and Real Tone.
For video, the rear camera system has options for 4K video recording at 24/30/60 FPS and 1080p recording at the same frame rates. It also includes a suite of video features like Video Boost, Night Sight Video and Audio Magic Eraser, Macro Focus Video, 10-bit HDR video, Optical Image Stabilization, Fused Video Stabilization and Cinematic Pan.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold also features two 10 MP front cameras, one on the outer display and one on the inner display, both with an ƒ/2.2 aperture and an 87° field of view. Both the front cameras are capable of 4K video recording at 30/60 FPS and 1080p recording at the same frame rates.
