The Ministry of Local Development has directed the (Kathmandu) metropolis, sub-metrpolises and municipalities to inform them in writing about dues they owe to Nepal Electricity Authority for use of street lamps.
NEA had repeatedly written to the ministry, complaining that the metropolis, sub-metropolises and some municipalities have not cleared power bills for the past seven years.
The ministry has sought from these local bodies details of the payments they have made to NEA over the past seven years and the arrears that remain. It has given them three months to submit the details.
