Honor X9 has been officially launched in Nepal together with Honor X8 and Honor X7. This embarks a new journey for the company as it has made comeback in Nepal with a new distributor.
With the new launch, Honor is trying to compete in the mid-range price category and is sure to face tough competition from already established companies like Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme.
Honor X9 is the most expensive phone in the lineup. The best smartphone in the new X series features a large display, which supports a decent refresh and touch-sampling rate. This phone also has a good battery backup and supports extremely fast charging that gets the phone fully charged in no time. The phone’s unique design makes it look premium and the camera module is unlike anything seen in this price range.
To know more, let’s get into the details of Honor X9.

Design and display
One of the main attractions of the Honor X9 is its design. Built with a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame, the phone has a unique circular layout for housing the rear camera and LED flash. There is also a cool matrix logo in the middle of the camera panel. The glossy back of the phone has HONOR branding at the bottom and looks neat. Furthermore, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometrics.
Honor X9 weighs 189 grams and is 8.05 mm in thickness. The phone is available in titanium silver, ocean blue and midnight black colour variants.
On the front is a 6.80-inch centre punch-hole IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1,080*2,388 pixels and 385 PPI density. The punch hole on the display is comparatively smaller than the one seen on other smartphones, giving more space for the display. Then, the display has very thin bezels giving a premium look to the phone. Similarly, the display supports up to 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.
Cameras
As mentioned earlier, Honor X9 has a unique camera module on its back. The main 64MP camera on the back is housed together in a circular layout with 8MP ultrawide and a couple of 2MP depth and macro sensors. An LED flash is also included in the camera panel. The camera also supports automatic focus and up to 8x digital zoom.
The camera features on the phone include a wide-angle lens, aperture, night, portrait (including beauty mode), a pro, panorama, HDR, filter, time-lapse photography, a super macro, high-res and capture smile.
For the video, both cameras on the front and back can record 1080p resolution videos. The front camera also works as a face unlock system (biometrics) on the phone.
Performance and storage
Honor X9 runs on Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 (6nm) chipset while the graphics are handled by Adreno 610. This is a mid-range chipset that has been largely used by the smartphone of the similar price category and does not seem promising as recently Redmi 10, which costs less than Rs 20,000, is offering the same chipset.
At the moment, only a single variant of 8 GB of RAM coupled with 128GB of internal storage is available in Nepal. The user does not have the option to expand the storage as there is no slot for the MicroSD card on the phone. However, the user has the option to expand the RAM memory by 2GB with HONOR RAM Turbo technology.
Battery life, connectivity and others
Honor X9 has a 4,800mAh non-removable li-po battery. The company has marketed that this power can provide up to 13.75 hours of social media exploring and up to 16.8 hours of online music playback. The battery can be charged through a 66W HONOR SuperCharge charger, which gets up to 81 per cent charge in just 30 minutes.
Honor X9 can house dual sims that support a 4G network. The phone supports dual-band wifi as well as OTG. There is Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless pairing with other devices while the phone uses a USB Type-C 2.0 cable for charging and wired connectivity. Surprisingly, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone.
Notable features of Honor X9 are:
- Large 6.80-inch LCD display
- Circular layout rear camera panel
- Thin bezels with a small camera cutout
- 90Hz refresh rate
- 180Hz touch sampling rate
- 6nm power-efficient chipset
