Kathmandu, October 25
The Legislature-Parliament is discussing the impeachment motion against suspended CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki on Tuesday.
At the meeting scheduled for 3 pm, the proposer will table the motion and explain the reason behind the move.
After that, the House will give supporters of the motion time to speak. Discussions on the motion will begin after that.
Every lawmaker will get the time to speak on the motion. Earlier, there was plan to allot time for each lawmaker at Thursday’s meeting itself, but the meeting was put on hold as major parties sought time for discussions.
After discussions, the motion will be sent to Impeachment Recommendation Committee.
The committee will take Karki’s statement and give him the opportunity to defend himself. The committee will conduct a study and recommend to the House whether or not to press ahead with the impeachment process. If the committee stands in favour of pressing ahead with the motion, Karki will lose his job.
Last Wednesday, 157 lawmakers from the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre had tabled the motion against Karki in the Parliament.
