Kathmandu, March 1
India has named Manjeev Singh Puri as its new ambassador to Nepal, in the wake of superannuation of his predecessor Ranjit Rae.
Ek Raj Pathak, press adviser to Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, told Onlinekhabar: We are yet to receive an official letter on the matter. But we have information about the appointment of Manjeev Singh as the ambassador.
A source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said it has information that India has recommended Singh as its ambassador to Nepal.
Puri earlier served as India’s ambassador to the European Union and Luxembourg. Among other postings, Puri has worked as India’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations.
A source at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu said it will take Puri some weeks to assume office.
