Kathmandu, March 3
Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dip Kumar Upadhyaya, said on Friday India has a role in ending load-shedding in Nepal.
At the same time, Upadhyaya said there are no problems in Nepal-India relations at present.
Upadhyaya, speaking at a programme that Reporters’ Club Nepal had organised, said: We have got electricity due to the construction of a cross-border transmission line. We are asking for an additional 120 MW from India.
He said: We should thank India for providing electricity. Everyone knows that load-shedding is ending in Nepal because of India.
Prez visit soon
Ambassador Upadhyaya said India has no dissatisfaction when it comes to upcoming elections in Nepal. He said: India has not opposed elections. We cannot shirk our responsibilities by putting the blame on others for decisions that Nepal’s Parliament and the Council of Ministers have taken.
At the same time, Upadhyaya said President Bidhya Bhandari will visit India shortly. “Both sides are preparing for the visit and homework for the same is at the final stage. Very soon, the date of the visit will be announced.”
He said Nepal-India relations have reached new heights. Now, we have a bilateral overriding mechanism in place. India’s Railway Minister and Finance Minister recently visited Kathmandu.
