Hetaunda, March 3
Police in Makawanpur district of central Nepal have arrested an Indian national in possession of over six kilograms of illegal gold.
The arrestee has been identified as Abdul Majid Anekal, 42, from Karnataka of India. He was travelling on a night bus heading to Birgunj from Kathmandu last night. SP Sushil Singh Rathaur says the illegal yellow metal was detected while police stopped the bus for a regular checkup at Ratomate, Hetaunda-15 along the East-West Highway.
The haul of gold is as expensive as Rs 42.8 million in the Nepali market currently.
The suspect has been sent to the Revenue Investigation Office in Pathalaiya of Bara district for further investigation.
