Two people have been arrested for smuggling gold to Kathmandu through the Kerung Pass in Rasuwa.
Among those arrested are 26-year-old Sudip BK of Itahari Sub-metropolitan city-11 of Sunsari and 39-year-old Sonam Dorje Lama of Chumanubri Rural Municipality-6 of Gorkha. They were arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-18, Naradevi on March 25.
SP and spokesperson of the Crime Investigation Office, Nakul Pokharel said that 128.7 grams of gold, which was brought through the Kerung checkpoint in Rasuwa after evading customs, were recovered from them.
Both the arrested persons have been sent to Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office for further investigation and action.
