Dhangadhi, April 11
Locals in Attariya of the Kailali district in Sudurpaschim on Tuesday blocked the East-West Highway claiming a woman and her newborn child died due to doctors’ negligence at the local Malakheti Hospital.
Laxmi Bhattarai (28), a resident of the Godawari municipality, and her baby died on Monday.
Yesterday also, the locals obstructed the road with the same claim. Later in the afternoon, the local government agencies, the deceased’s family and the hospital administration signed an agreement, thereby ending the obstruction.
But today again, the locals resorted to the streets saying the agreement was not implemented.
SP Devendra Bahadur Pal, the District Police Office chief, says efforts are underway to remove the obstructing.
An investigation team is also being formed to look into the case, according to him.
