Kathmandu, April 22
Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu will be closed for half an hour during the visit of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
According to Tribhuvan Airport sources, a ‘Notice to Airmen'(Notam) has been issued for Tuesday afternoon from 4.30 pm to 5 pm.
When the Notam is issued for VVIP flights, there are usually no flights from other airlines.
“There may be flight-landing in case of emergency,” he said, “VVIP flight is given priority in normal situations.”
According to sources, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani is set to arrive in a private aircraft. The parking bay will also be kept empty to keep his aircraft. It has not been disclosed whether other aircraft of allies will come with the king.
A similar kind of Notam will also be issued at the time of his return on Wednesday. During state visits, there is a trend of closing the airport for the respect and safety of very special guests.
