Kathmandu, March 9
People across Nepal are celebrating the annual Holi festival on Monday. The celebration in the capital looked less lively than those of the previous years as the public are living under the fears of novel coronavirus spread.
Though the government authorities had discouraged the public from gathering in public places and using colours and water in the celebration, a few crowds were seen in various places of the capital. In the past years, thousands of people used to gather at Basantapur of Kathmandu, but there are a few hundred today.
DSP Hobindra Bogati, the spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu, says no untoward incident has been reported from the celebrations in the capital. Police have warned that they would take action against those who throw water-filled lolas at strangers without their consent.
