Kathmandu, December 30

The Kathmandu metropolitan city has launched an investigation against the city police chief Raju Nath Pandey on the charge of workplace harassment that he inflicted on his staff member.

Pandey is accused of harassing a female head constable after she applied for maternity leave. Following that, the woman filed a complaint with Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol and Chief Administrative Officer Basanta Adhikari, demanding action.

In response to that, the city government on Tuesday commissioned a three-member team led by its Social Development Department Chief Gopal Prasad Pokharel, according to its spokesperson Navin Manandhar. Other members of the team are Sumitra Lamichhane from the Justice Administration Department and Kumari Rai from the Urban Planning Department.

Earlier, the local government had asked Pandey to clarify the charge, upon which he pleaded innocent.
