Kathmandu, December 14
Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started confiscating tobacco products from shops from Thursday.
The metropolis banned the sale of certain tobacco products sold in plastic packages from Wednesday. The officials from the City Police confiscated the products from shops that did not follow to the city’s directive.
Acting Head of City Police SP Bishnu Joshi said they seized two sacks of tobacco products from Balaju, two large packets from Jadibuti and Koteswor and three sacks from other areas in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu City Police has mobilised five teams of 10 people each for monitoring. Similarly, City Police in plain clothing have also been mobilised.
“Shops will be given two warnings and if they continue to sell the band product for a third time, we will shut down the shop,” said Joshi.
