Kathmandu, June 8
The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre under the government has called for applications to distribute electric stoves to students living in Kathmandu by renting rooms or flats if they belong to the indigenous and Dalit communities.
The centre has called on students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees to fill out the application.
Those interested can fill in an online form on this link attaching a copy of their ID card and citizenship certificate along with a letter of recommendation from their educational institution. Those from Dalit and indigenous communities need a letter from their respective communities too.
The last date of submission is June 23.
Currently, the government is promoting the use of electric stoves as it wants to promote the use of electricity produced in Nepal and reduce cooking gas imports. In the recently announced budget plan for the next fiscal year also, the government has announced an ambitious plan to distribute one such stove to every household across the country.
