Kathmandu, February 9
The KP Sharma Oli government is performing the final rites of former prime minister and Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala with state honours. The Cabinet made a decision to this effect on Tuesday, declaring Wednesday a public holiday in honour of the late leader.
Koirala’s last rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Wednesday.
The Cabinet has decided to hoist the national flag at half mast on February 10-12 at government offices and in diplomatic missions. There will be no formal programmes during this period.
Meanwhile, India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is arriving in Kathmandu on Wednesday to pay tributes to the late Koirala. Government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications, Sher Dhan Rai, shared this information with Onlinekhabar.com.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa, had informed Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting about this.
Mohan Shrestha, Thapa’s press adviser, said Swaraj will arrive in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning.
