Makawanpur, November 7
Two persons died whereas four others sustained injuries after a bus hit them at Newarpani, Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city-19 of the Makawanpur district, along the East-West Highway, on Saturday night.
The victims have been identified as Suraj Bista of Newarpani, and Prem Bahadur Singh Thakuri (34), Piple of the neighbouring Chitwan district, informs the District Police Office.
The bus (Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha-0936) heading towards Narayangadh of Chitwan from Gaur of Rautahat had hit a group of locals who were on a Deusi-Bhailo journey.
The injured are undergoing treatment at different health facilities in Hetaunda and Bharatpur, informs DSP Jayeshwar Rimal.
Meanwhile, locals torched the bus following the accident.
The bus driver is on the run and police have launched a manhunt.
