Monday morning quake in Nepal: Sherpa killed on Mt Amadablam

A Sherpa high altitude worker was killed after being hit by a cliff on Mt Amadablam, following a quake in the Everest region early on Monday morning.

The 5.6 magnitude quake, believed to be an aftershock from the April 2105 temblor, struck at around 5.20 am on Monday.

Solukhumbu Chief District Officer Umesh Pandey Told Onlinekhabar that 45-year-old Lakpa Thenby Sherpa died while being ferried to Kathmandu on a chopper. He informed that members of Sherpa’s expedition team, which included some British nationals, are safe.

The team was camped on the mountain’s Camp Three at an altitude of 6,000m.
