Kathmandu, August 2
The CPN-Maoist Centre and the Nepali Congress are to sign a three-point deal with the Madheshi Morcha (United Democratic Madheshi Front).
The three parties have readied a draft of the deal at the taskforce level. Leaders participating in a meeting held to prepare the draft said top leaders of the three parties will give final touches to the deal and sign on the same.
The three-point understanding has not set any time limit for registering proposals seeking amendments in the new Constitution
Rajendra Shrestha, a member of the taskforce, said the deal has not set time limit for registering proposals seeking amendments in the new Constitution. Top leaders of the parties will take a final call on the issue.
The first point of the draft states that some of the demands raised by the Morcha/Federal Alliance will be addressed through the Cabinet.
The second point states: The Federal Alliance and the Madheshi Morcha will register Constitution amendment proposals in the Parliament on the bases of 26-point and 11-point demands at the earliest, covering issues like provincial demarcation.
As per the third point, the UDMF will have to vote for the candidate that NC and CPN-Maoist Centre have fielded.
