Kathmandu, November 17

The faction led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the ruling Nepal Communist Party has proposed postponing the secretariat meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

The meeting is likely to formally discuss a political document that another chairman of the party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, presented in the meeting last week. In the document, Dahal has claimed Oli promoted factionalism in the party and he was reluctant to abide by the party decisions. He termed this ‘Oli tendency’, adding the tendency should be widely exposed now.

Oli, however, has said the report was a tissue of lies, adding he would not address the charges.

Although the Oli camp wants to postpone the meeting, the Dahal side has not agreed, according to party insiders. “Let’s sit for a meeting on Wednesday. Then, we can go for whatever the meeting decides,” Dahal reportedly told Oli.

Meanwhile, Oli’s confidant and the party’s general secretary Bishnu Paudel met Dahal on Tuesday, apparently in his bid to convince Dahal about postponing the meeting.
