The government is preparing to add 89 new border outposts to its existing border security measures. The new BOPs will be established on both Indian and Chinese borders.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has already finalised the list of places where the BOPs will be established. The ministry has already acquired land pieces needed to establish their offices and camps, it has been learned. In a few places, the government would acquire the necessary space on lease.

As the Armed Police Force has been mobilised in the country’s border security currently, the APF personnel will be mobilised in the new places also.

Currently, the APF has 107 BOPs. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa had directed the APF to prepare a plan to increase the number of such posts up to 500. In response, the APF had also demanded that around 10,000 additional personnel should be recruited.
